Convocation speech of PayPal founder Elon Musk at California Institute of Technology

Why Bangladeshi Websites are so old in using modern technology?

?Bangladeshi websites are so called ‘OLD’?

There are so many popular websites in Bangladesh. Some of them are commercial and some of them are for personal usage and even some of them are for business purpose. Now a days Bangladeshi websites are being developed so fast. Each day hundreds over site is being developed approximately. But Bangladeshi Websites are so old in looking. Most of the websites are developed by as usual way. I am here to write few things about why Bangladeshi websites are not habituated to use latest technology and features.

  • Just brand
Few Bangladeshi websites are being developed because of their brand value. People know their name and that’s why people see their website and they are getting lots of traffic. Like ProthomAlo.com, BDJobs.com. This kinds of website owner of Bangladesh thinks that their website is running with lots of information and they are getting traffic so that’s OK. They are giving 20, 30 thousands over salary to their webmaster but their website is as usual. Few of this kinds of famous branded website has started sharing content through social media since few days, few months. Their webmasters haven’t implemented any special features or their website doesn’t meet cross browser functionality, standard graphical user interface, accessibility,?readability. Most of the websites are just generating content and they are running. Even they don’t think about the development of their websites. So Bangladeshi websites are so called ‘poor’ in using modern technology.
  • Old but Highly Paid Web Developer
Most of the Bangladeshi website is being developed by poor skilled web developer but they are getting high payment as their salary because the website owner (company) has large amount of sells and the company is still a famous brand in Bangladesh. That’s why company management is providing high payment for their web developer but do they think their webmaster’s quality, experience or quality?
  • Open Source CMS, Limitation on Idea
Most of the Bangladeshi websites are running by Open Source CMS like WordPress, Joomla (Why Joomla is favorite for Bangladeshi web developer?). And their top management is hiring wordpress developer or Joomla developer or other Open Source CMS developer for their official website. So that when their webmaster start working for their website then for the limitation of open source CMS their webmaster can’t built any extra functionality for their website until their expected functionality is not being supported or compatible with their favorite Open Source CMS. So they can’t go forward as they want (sometime not everytime). Because open source CMS is open for all. So it can’t fulfill the requirement of all kinds of people. So if we use Open Source CMS then we should gather the ability to add extra functionality for that CMS as we expect.
  • Lack of Skilled Webmaster
In Bangladesh day by day web development learner is increasing but the number of skilled webmaster is not increasing. Because before finishing learning of Web Development people think they are capable to start earning or building their career as a web developer. But they shouldn’t do that. They should complete their training or they should work themselves few months of few years before starting their career. It’s so important. In Bangladesh recently 95% of web developers are doing outsourcing. They are considering themselves as freelancer. It’s good but for this we are loosing few brilliant web developer’s talent. They don’t want to work under pressure like going to office, working under a boss. But it is necessary. They should do professional work. For this reason Bangladeshi websites are being so called old because the Bangladeshi website owner is not getting skilled web developer.
  • Webmasters are becoming Entrepreneur
Most of the webmasters are becoming entrepreneur with their project. But they don’t know the business or they don’t know the business opportunity for their websites. That’s why a large number of Bangladeshi websites are loosing their quality. To do start business with this websites web developers can’t concentrate on developing their websites. It’s a major problem for Bangladeshi websites.

I will also write about it in further. But I personally think we should implement most of the latest technology in our websites. There are lots of techniques, technology to make our website more better, more standard and more user friendly. So we should think about the development of Bangladeshi website. If you know more please don’t hesitate to share information and your opinion in comments.

Why Joomla is favorite for Bangladeshi web developer?

?Joomla for Bangladeshi Web Developer?

I have searched a lot about this topics and also discussed with few of smart and skilled Joomla developer in Bangladesh. I am sharing the summery of this issue.

Most of the Bangladeshi webmasters are familiar with Joomla than wordpress or other CMS. They are mostly familiar with only Joomla. And most of the old aged web developers of Bangladesh are developing website in Joomla. Joomla is an old and large CMS. There are few web development training institute in Bangladesh and most of their teachers are old aged and familiar or expert in Joomla that’s why they are motivating their users to use Joomla. Even I have heard that ‘I know Joomla’ when someone meet with Job interview board. hahahaha. Just funny. Even somebody know Joomla but they haven’t any knowledge on PHP. It’s funny to me. Isn’t it?

Bangladeshi web developers are learning Joomla by being motivated by their senior web developers of GURU. But they never know the comparison about Joomla with WordPress or others. They are just following their senior guru.

90% of Bangladeshi web developer know Joomla because of their?senior guru?but they don’t know others. It’s one kind of de-motivation. It’s something like the following quote-

How Could I get money from Bangladesh – Some easy way

?In this days there is a buzzword that ‘How Could I get money or How could I earn money from Bangladesh’. Most of the young people are so much familiar with Freelancing, Earn from home in Bangladesh, MLM Business in Bangladesh. So there are so many earning opportunities in Bangladesh. I believe it is… but my question is what is perfect for you? I even don’t know what is the perfect and best way to earn money from Bangladesh easily. Also I believe that few fraud or temporary business company (real & unreal) are showing over hundreds even thousands job opportunities in Bangladesh. Most of the young boy want to know about How could I get money from Bangladesh or how to earn online from Bangladesh or how to earn online in Bangladesh. I hope you are one of them who is reading this writings.
?There are lots of way to earn money from Bangladesh or earn online from Bangladesh. There are so many opportunities for Bangladeshi but the sad thing is day by day it’s going to worst part because of us. I am not talking about any traditional business or earning scheme that is related to earn online from Bangladesh. But I am going to put a list to earn money from Bangladesh ( which is the most trending topics in Bangladesh). There are-
1. oDesk
2. MLM
3. PTC Website with MLM business concept
4. Commission by share
Absolutely few people will fraud with people and few people will do business by people. It’s system not for Bangladesh. But in Bangladesh 98% such types of business strategy is to do fraud with people.
From my above list, obviously oDesk is a popular and top 5 freelancer’s marketplace where you can earn money from Bangladesh by doing work of foreigners. But recently researching some facts quality of works from Bangladesh is bad than previous and it is obviously negative and event it can destroy our foreign revenue sector in Bangladesh.
?oDesk is free to join and oDesk hasn’t any condition to start bidding on project. But there are so many young who hasn’t any technical skills but they are signing up for oDesk account by finishing any un-effective outsourcing course from Bangladesh so in this case now a days in oDesk there are minimum 40 contractors are bidding on average for a single job. So it’s quite complex for buyer to choose the right and skilled one. In this case buyer may chose wrong person and the quality is not being so professional so buyer are being familiar that ‘There are so much freelancers in Bangladesh but quality is not so good’. So it’s really bad for us. So we should actually browse the skill list, prioritize job in oDesk and then we should be skilled ourselves by self learning, courses from any effective way. So that oDesk can be a great choice for lifetime earning. So for skilled worker oDesk is great to earn money online from Bangladesh.
?Also there is being a popular buzzword that is ‘MLM’ that is called actually Multi-Level Marketing. With this business model multi-zero figure number of young are being demotivated for being skilled. Because someone is earning from them. But none of the MLM company in Bangladesh (who are publishing that their company is giving you the money and it is the easy earn money online from Bangladesh) are doing right work. they are earning from the MLM Tree calculation but actually they are destroying our skilled human resource in Bangladesh. So most of the MLM business owners plan to earn some money and they will shut their business off after they got the money and their subscribers or clients or users will walk through sunny road again for searching another MLM company. So MLM Companies of Bangladesh are just doing business with people and they are making us fool and event they are destroying our beloved young generation by giving them fraud online money earning facility from Bangladesh.
?Recently also PTC (PayToClick) sites are increasing and they are telling that users are clicking on Advertisements and they are earning money online from Bangladesh. But this advertisements clicking can never get something better for youngs than money. But this earning can’t be an ultimate income solution for a Bangladeshi young. There are lots of PTC sites in Bangladesh but most of them are making us fool by showing few freaking advertisements.
?Also there are some commission based business model and the business owners are promoting their business by saying that ‘Invest money here and make double within short term’. Everything is just false and it’s like pretty shit. I am so much afraid of their strategy. Ultimately the young generations are being demotivated and they are going to the wrong way.

Passing hard time and being self-murdered

As a very deep thinking person I am passing a very much hard time in my life and being self murdered. Slowly I am destroying my sweet sessions of life. I don’t know that neither I will be happy or not. Though I am still making hope and running towards my dreams.

Passing obstacles, and facing another brick of obstacles. Totally it’s a matter of being disappointed. Don’t know where is the limit beyond my sorrow. Still I am sleeping underneath dreams. I haven’t any questions to GOD.. Just want to ask GOD why he is continuously showing me the situation similar to death. Sometimes I think death is near to me and my life is being going to be death. I don’t get any answers from GOD. Only GOD knows what’s another chapters are still remaining in my life. I consider all of these are my primary lesson. And I want to be ready for my higher level of lessons. Continuously I am being hopeless and after a few moments again I am seeing dreams, hope. Nobody know me better than myself.

Slowly going to the near stage of death. But I want to struggle and I want to see the brighter light in my life which I am looking for. Life is going. Sadness covers me sometimes. Dreams make me awake. Sorrow bring tears and small kicking to obstacle make me enough happy. I am being slowly unable to solve the puzzle of my life. And I am being afraid. In this lonely world of living, I am going alone, I am walking alone, I am running alone and I am destroying myself alone. I can’t blame anybody for the situations. It’s totally related to my thinking capacity, problem solving capacity and struggling power and inspirational backup that was generated by myself. I am leading a continuously?desperate?situation of my life. Why I bring the problem to solve a problem. And each problem is greater than the previous problem. Why? My philosophy for sadness never betray me but why again I see dreams and fall in down into hope?

Questions and answers of all of the above questions are still remaining hidden. Dream is making me alive always. Thanks GOD for making me such a struggling boy.

Forex trading from Bangladesh

?How people earn from Forex in Bangladesh?

Forex in Bangladesh is now a hot topics among young people. Bangladesh Forex trends are still running and being focused to earn a lots of money quickly. So what’s Forex? Forex is a short form of FOREIGN EXCHANGE. The main fact is to buy or sell currency against another currency. Recently a trend is keeping place in mind of Bangladeshi educated young personnel to invest money in Forex and earn a pretty cool money.

Yeah, that’s correct. But actually Forex is not for them who want to build a home, buy a car. You have to research a lot and also you will have to practice couple of months because it’s a very tough area to earn money by taking participation into any other foreign country’s economy. It’s huge, not so easy.

To start forex trading, read my another article..http://www.shahariaazam.com/forex-trading-from-bangladesh-where-to-start

But yes, it can be a part-time career for Bangladeshi. I will encourage students to gather knowledge about this things. Even it can make you rich in seconds even you also can be a pretty shit here by loosing your lovely money. (evil lough)… Remember Forex is a place where all of the richest people come to keep their money busy by investing. It’s not safe if you think that you will start with $25 or $50 or $100.

NEVER THINK FOREX WILL MANAGE YOUR MEAL COST, LIVING COST AND CAR’S OIL. That’s why Forex trading requires your skills to get started in the global forex business.

But if you can study carefully and attentively you can easily make profit from Forex. But you have to remember forex will never manage your meal cost, living cost and car’s oil. From Bangladesh it is restricted to run a forex training institute in Because few bad people has made this concept bad totally and to avoid big fraud Bangladesh Bank has recently released a general notice which has been published all the national dailies to stop each kinds of Forex related money transaction.

But if you can invest your money by yourself then it would be better. So start earning your money and collect investment. Forex can make you richest in a single day or even it can take all of you. Forex trading from Bangladesh will be an interesting career or investment plan if you can study well and understand the global forex market.

Let?s make a place for young entrepreneurs in IT sector in Bangladesh

Let?s make a place for young entrepreneurs in IT sector in Bangladesh

We live in a world of competition and IT businesses are running inside a competitive market. But who are being the winner and who are being looser? From the place we live now (Bangladesh) can?t understand the global technology crisis and innovation crisis. I will not tell this is exactly with ?crisis? word. The world is being more and more thirsty because it is already getting also more and more taste of technology. So generally it?s thirstiness will increase. From Bangladesh we don?t practice to know the rest of the world. Just think that before Facebook (especially I am tagging this name because most of the people only know this name when we talk about sharing) how much content we shared? How many times we sat down in front of the internet.

The world is changing but Bangladesh is not going through that change. We follow things when those are popular in the rest of the world. Just think about digital journalism, digital content sharing, mobile web, digital office, ecommerce. Can you remember when those latest gift of technology has invented by people and can you remember when we got this? Time difference is too long. But they are also learning and implementing, that?s why they are creating and sharing. We can?t. Why? I will not give the answer today. Just try to find the answer yourself.

We have the knowledge and human resource but we don?t have the proper guidance. Agree with me? Yes, you have to. We are so lazy to implement before other?s implementation. Always most of the famous (?) people of Bangladeshi IT market tell that we have the skilled human resource and we need to do it, we should to do it. And when they write down any column in media and when their speech broadcast on TV media then we always hear about their contribution to our country. May be they never learn to praise others. I will not mention any person here but they do and they always do and they always want to become the builder of Bangladesh. I will not talk about this right now. I am here to talk about young entrepreneurship in IT business or project.

A person who organizes and operates a business or businesses, taking on financial risk to do so is called entrepreneurs. Sometimes I see in web and rare in newspapers that one young has made this or one person has invented this or one student have built it. But I don?t know that those famous people did any help to that boy or person or student? This is difference between other country and Bangladesh. We are not habitual to show admiration for others. ?There are so many innovation hidden in each corner of Bangladesh that is really essential to make Bangladesh more advance. But we can?t organize all of it.

I have found some obstacles if you want to establish an IT business or IT innovative project. Those are:

  • Financial crisis
  • Proper guidelines to make that more professional
  • Lack of contribution by others

Suppose you are going to develop a news sharing website that will be a open source news sharing platform. Just make a project proposal and go to any IT famous (?) person and tell about it. Will they help to your project without any profit? Or will any financial organization will give you some financial support for that? No, this kinds of situation hasn?t created yet!! But we should create this platform very fast. Because we have the idea to make Google, we have the brain and skill to make facebook, we have the idea and effort for making Youtube. Haven?t we? Yes, of course. But most of the young can take this kinds of initiatives but at a certain stage they lose their encouragement because of the environment of Bangladesh. Who will come forward and who should take care of this?

We always talk about Freelancing but who are freelancers actually? Which person is talking in TV media, is he a freelancer or who is bidding for getting a project by convincing the buyer? Who is? So we should understand these problems for whom and how we should solve. There are so much small projects are getting older in Bangladesh without any help of those famous persons or any financial institutions. Why there is nobody to collect that things and why someone is not giving their hand for them? To encourage the young you should talk from their platform not from yours. Without encouragement no young can be encouraged to become a entrepreneur. But young entrepreneurship can change the Bangladesh. Always it?s not possible to make a great company by taking an office in a corporate space or advertising on TV media by your own money. Sometimes some ideas are the key.

There are none of plans we see to encourage the young entrepreneurs in Bangladesh. We should. If we can?t take care of this as soon as possible then this kinds of skills will be old aged and then all of us will miss them. Professional businessman can establish a PC sales and servicing center and can run a broadband internet service providing company but they can?t think more to make Google, Facebook, YouTube in Bangladesh. Am I right or wrong? So bring forward and make young entrepreneurs in Bangladesh that will help Bangladesh to make some new and worthwhile identity of Bangladesh.

Jerry Yang gives his advice to graduating students at the University of Hawaii

Thank you, Chancellor Tseng… Aloha! Distinguished guests, faculty, graduates, and the ohana of the graduating class of 2009.

Congratulations to the graduating class! You’ve reached the end of a long and rigorous journey. You’ve completed your last final exam, wrapped up your last soil analysis, and finished your dissertation on Hawaiian poetry. And now, following this milestone occasion of your graduation, you get to dream like the rest of us — you know, the kind of dream where you show up to your English lit class for the first time of the semester and the professor asks everyone to get out their pencils for the final exam.

I’m very honored to be the last person you hear from before you walk across this stage to receive your hard-earned diplomas. I’d imagine that the university invited me to speak here today not only because I’m a part-time Hawaii resident, but because they took pity on me. You see, the idea for Yahoo! was born when I was procrastinating my PhD in electrical engineering at Stanford in 1994… and the company took off before I had a chance to finish my degree. So I never actually earned my Ph.D. And that I will receive Honorary Doctorate today — without even setting foot in a lab — is quite amazing. Mahalo!

My job here today is to spend about 10 minutes or so to share some of my personal stories with you, so you can go on to do great things with your new degrees, and in your lives. I’d like to do that with a few bullet points of advice: Point one: Don’t let the news get you down.

Let me read you some headlines: “College Grads Labor Against Shrinking Job Market Openings, Drop 13% This Year.” And, “America Broadens its Deployments in the Middle East.” And “U.S. Taxpayers To Spend Billions Bailing Out Failing Financial Institutions.”

Now, you might think that’s today’s headlines. In fact, that was in the year 1990, when I sat where you are now for my graduation. The future looked pretty bleak. Some people may say that I took the “easy way out” — I went to graduate school — but the reality was I couldn’t find a job with an engineering degree from Stanford!

The point is that great things will come out of times of adversity. So it all comes down to your outlook. Mark Twain once defined an optimist as “a person who travels on nothing from nowhere to happiness.”

I can promise you that great things are being started in down-times like this. Yahoo! started in an economic downturn in the early 90s. Other great companies, great ideas, products, even social movements have come about as people were throwing away the status quo and doing EVERYTHING in new ways. In some ways, there’s not a better time to be a graduate to be part of this renewal. Point two: You get out of life what you put into it.

Success doesn’t come from a high IQ or innate talent. It takes a willingness to work hard. In Malcolm Gladwell’s book Outliers, he introduced the “10,000 hour rule,” which holds that it takes about 10,000 hours of hard work and practice — or ten years — to become a world-class expert in anything. The difference between a good violinist and a virtuoso comes down to ambition and having the discipline to put in the requisite time. As someone once said, in golf as in life, it is the follow through that makes the difference.

My mother taught me the rules of perseverance. While I’ve certainly faced challenges since founding Yahoo!, they were nothing compared to what my mother faced coming to the US as a single parent from Taiwan, with two young boys and a few suitcases. I was ten at the time, and the only English word I knew was the word “shoe.” It could have been very easy to feel discouraged. But I worked hard, studied hard, and played hard along the way. Yes, good timing and some luck played a role in my starting Yahoo!, but there is just no substitute for hard work and relentless preparation.

And along the way, I had a great family and friends to support me. Many of you already know — especially those of you who have ohana is taking up 15 chairs or more in this stadium — that we get our strength from our families and friends.

Now, when I told my Mom that I was stepping out of my Ph.D. to start a company and basically sell “Internet advertising” for a living, she wasn’t too keen on the idea, but she supported me. These days, she doesn’t complain very much! Point three: Do what you love, even if it takes you down strange alleys.

When David Filo and I were in our graduate student trailer at Stanford, we were supposed to be spending our research time on figuring out algorithms to design faster and more efficient computer chips. But then we discovered this cool new thing called the Web and suddenly our dissertation wasn’t so interesting anymore (to be honest, I’m not sure it ever really was, and I can say that now that I’m gonna get an honorary degree!).

We eventually spent more hours cataloguing web links than we did working on our thesis. We slept on the floor of our trailer — one of us would be programming and dealing with our little Yahoo! site, and the other would sleep… We did it out of love and passion. We never thought it would turn into a business, we just figured that if people kept coming to our site, we were doing a great service and we were having fun!

Eventually, others saw the opportunity — a venture capitalist was even crazy enough to give us a million dollars to turn it into a business. The lesson here is NOT for you to go pursue a career as a professional Guitar Hero player, but rather to be open to serendipity and possibilities.

If you find something that feels right but doesn’t seem to fit into your vision of master plan, take a chance, and commit to it by working hard. You shouldn’t be afraid to let passion get behind the wheel — you might really love where you end up. To quote Robert Lewis Stephenson, “Sit loosely in the saddle of life.” Point four: Get to know the world around you. [By the way, how am I doing? Am I losing any of you? Halfway there!]

That might mean taking your first trip to Honolulu or San Francisco or Shanghai — or simply logging onto the Internet.

One downside to being here in Paradise, 2,500 miles from anywhere, is that there’s a great temptation to forget there are other worlds, ideas and experiences beyond these shores. I’m not suggesting that you need to leave Hawaii to succeed. Quite the contrary — you can succeed anywhere, especially at a time when technology is making geography irrelevant.

But take me, for example. I went to college 20 miles from where I grew up, and my office today is even closer. Yet I’ve always made it a priority to explore the world. In grad school, I spent six months living in Japan. There, I made friends who helped me start Yahoo! a couple of years later, I met my wife there, and became a serious fan of sumo wrestling. But it also changed my worldview on people, cultures, ideologies… beer.

So get out there, go see the world, chart your own footprints on different lands than you are familiar with! As the philosopher St. Augustine wrote, “The world is a book and those who do not travel read only one page.” It’s really hard to dream if you can’t imagine the possibilities. Point five: Use your advantages to your advantage.

When I was in college, there were no cell phones, we had to deal with VHS video tapes, no digital cameras! The Internet didn’t exist — can you imagine life without email, Wikipedia, Yahoo!, or ComedyCentral.com? I can’t even remember how we functioned. I have two young daughters now and I know the Web is bailing me out of plenty of “Dad, why is the sky blue?” kinds of questions! My children will soon discover the opportunities that are literally at their fingertips and they will have no excuse for being uninformed.

You are starting (or commencing!) your next phase of life with a great tool chest. Information technology has flattened the world, and your UH Hilo education has prepared you well. You need to appreciate how great your potential is, given the incredible tools you are blessed with. I urge you to be curious. Don’t ever lose your enthusiasm and sense of wonder. Never stop learning. And my last, and perhaps most important, point: Don’t take yourself too seriously.

The name Yahoo! – how did we come up with a name like Yahoo!? What were we thinking? If you looked it up in the dictionary, it means someone who is very “uncivilized and rude.” David Filo and I figured we were a couple of yahoos, doing something on the Web when we were supposed to be doing our dissertation!

Even today, we have a purple cow in our lobby, foosball tables in every office, we yodel when we’re happy, and my official title is Chief Yahoo. I think that probably speaks for itself. If you can’t take yourself lightly along the journey, you are probably trying too hard!

This commencement marks the beginning of a new journey. You’re stepping out into the real world. You sit here transformed from the person who came here four years ago. You have a future as critical thinkers, entrepreneurs, lifelong learners, and contributing members of the local and global society.

But you’re probably filled with anxiety and questions… What do I do next? What am I trading this parchment paper in for? Where can I find my syllabus for this next class called life? The good news is you don’t need the answers today. To borrow the words of Ralph Waldo Emerson, “Life is a succession of lessons, which must be lived to be understood.”

And don’t worry — it’s a long life, you don’t need to rush to be or do something. Your job is to walk out into the unknown and see what happens. Take your time, learn and enjoy something from each job, layer it on, and then pass it along so others can benefit from your wisdom.

And all along your journey, remember the people who got you here and where you came from. I can see the pride and confidence in the faces of your ohana. They believe in you and what you can become. Anyone who spends any time on this island comes to understand the power of the ohana and the support network you have here – it’s one that so few Western societies enjoy. Cherish it. Appreciate it. Be grateful for it. Honor it.

Graduates of the class of 2009… Ho’omaika’i. Congratulations.

And mahalo.

Idea Innovation 4 Daffodil Laptop Competition actually under a dummy judgement

Idea Innovation 4 Daffodil Laptop Competition actually under a dummy judgement because there were no any permanent judge. Some teachers went and some teachers come after some times after.

Onece a time two teachers is acting as judge, sometimes another 3 teachers is acting as judge. And most of the teachers were from BBA. There were few numbers of IT teachers there. The number can be 1 or 2. So all competitor are basically frustrated about their valuable idea. So is this competition for collecting ideas or something else.. we can’t define.

I have presented the following presentation on that competition. If you want, you can have a look on that.
